Rough patch

Last week I had a rough couple of days.

Tuesday afternoon I opened the mailbox and saw a letter from Weber's nursing program. The anticipation was killing me, so I raced inside and ripped open the letter. I was fairly confident that I would be accepted based on my interview with them. They had mentioned how impressed they were with me and said my grades looked great, yadah yadah yadah.. but when I read the line that I had only made the alternative list my heart dropped to the floor.

At first I was angry, then I cried, and then I burned my letter... psych, but I wanted to. Now I tend to be a half-glass-empty kinda gal, but it's something I've been working on. So as I sat there sulking in my misery.. I looked down at my legs and thought, "hey, at least I can walk?" From there it was an upward spiral and I'm okay with it now. I didn't want to share this to receive pity or sympathy, but I'm sharing it because I learned three valuable lessons.

1. You're life is never going to go according to plan, the Lord's timing is perfect and you just need to trust in it.
2. Don't give up on your goals.. (you bet your bottom dollar I'll be re-applying for Spring semester.)
3. There is always something to be grateful for.

ps. It's a good thing I married the sweetest guy around because he brought home flowers and played a few songs to cheer me up. He wins.

  2. You go girl for overcoming this bit of unfortunate news! God's timing is really everything, and I know He will give you exactly what you need, and point you in the right direction :) And some sweet music and flowers don't hurt either, what a nice hubby! So great that you aren't letting this discourage you; your acceptance has nothing to do with your worth--that comes through God. Keep your chin up, beauty!

  6. I don't know if you ever read my story about my journey becoming a nurse but I was told I would never be a nurse, ever. I felt defeated and hopeless and was determined to change my plans. But when I really stopped, asked, and listened- that's when everything came together. You are 100% right about timing. The Lord will answer your prayers in a way that is best for you!! You will get there!! I know it!! If you ever have any questions or need to vent I am totally here - I have been in your shoes many times!! Keep pushing forward!! You WILL do great things!! Xox

  7. It's totally their loss. We have some friends that moved to New York for her to get her license because it's so competitive here. You're super smart, and awesome, and gorgeous, and talented. Things will work out!
