The most insane thing I've ever done...

Over the weekend our BYU singles ward did a trek in honor of John Moyle, the man who carved "Holiness to the Lord" on the Salt Lake temple. Once a week he walked from Alpine (leaving at 2 a.m.) to Salt Lake City and then put in a full days work of stonecutting. When our bishop proposed the idea of reenacting his walk, we thought he was crazy.. but I've lived to tell the tale!

On Saturday morning we left Alpine at 2 a.m. and walked 27 miles to the Salt Lake Temple. Mind you, we were running on about one hour of sleep. We all walked in memory of an ancestor and wrote their name on the back of our leg or our wrist. Every time I began to struggle, I'd just look down at my wrist and remember all that Margaret Lillywhite (my third great grandmother) had gone through. To be quite honest, I was shocked that I didn't collapse midway through.. but with the strength of her, entertaining ward members, and the Lord.. we made it. It was definitely the hardest thing I've ever done, but I can't wait to tell my grandchildren about the night we walked 27 miles.
